English Camp in Fujinomiya

Last week the second-year junior high students spent two days at an English camp in Fujinomiya. After arriving, the girls played English games on a grassy field and then we all ate lunch outside. The weather was beautiful and we had a great view of Mt. Fuji.

After lunch we moved inside and the girls spent the afternoon preparing to put on a play in English. They worked in small groups with four different foreign English teachers. Everyone took part and worked hard to memorize their lines. They also designed and made their own original ‘Eco-bags’ according to the theme of a place that they would like to go and what they would like to do there. I wish I had taken pictures of their bags as they were really creative and interesting. I’m always so impressed by our girls’ artistic ideas.

After spending the night at the camp, the girls woke up the next morning, had final rehearsals, and then put on the play just before lunch. It was interesting to watch and they did a great job. Later, they were given awards for best group as well as for best ‘Eco-bag.’ The girls had a great experience at the camp, making new friends and having lots of fun in English. I’m sure they will have fond memories of it for many years.
