End of Term Service
On Thursday 18th July 2019, the final service of the first semester of the school year was held. This service gave us the chance to reflect on the past four months and think about the summer vacation.
The service started with a hymn and a reading from the bible. The bible passage was from Chapter 7 verses 7 to 12 of Matthew. This passage ends with the teaching ‘so in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.’ Then the Principal, Mr Ohashi gave a speech explaining the passage and its importance. The students were reminded to keep this passage in mind as they go about their summer vacation.
The service concluded following a further hymn and prayers. After the service, students were congratulated on their hard work during the first term. Students received prizes after entering a haiku contest and members of the badminton club were also present with awards after their performances at the recent city competitions.
Finally, five students who will spend a year studying abroad from next month gave speeches. The students will study in the UK, Italy and Canada. Each student expressed their determination to do their best and improve their language skills.
I hope that everyone has the chance to enjoy their summer vacation. It is a good chance to reflect and set goals for the next term. Remember to have fun but don’t forget to study!
