Summer Activities
Summer vacation is sadly over but many of our students had an amazing time engaging in cultural and language exchanges over the holidays.
Firstly, I joined a group of over twenty students on our first short summer study tour in Singapore. As well as practicing their English, the students learned about how the Singaporean government is combating climate change and maintaining its commitments to meet the SDGs targets.

This summer three of our students also took part in the prestigious TOBITATE Japan program. This program allows students to create their own study abroad plan and apply for funding for it from the Ministry of Education. Our students were lucky enough to be selected from thousands of applications and used the opportunity to travel to The United States, Cambodia and Fiji.
In addition, two of our junior high school students took part in a week-long home stay program in one of Shizuoka’s sister cities in America. One student also took part in a three-week home stay and camp in Italy and another attended a two week English camp in the UK.
I am very pleased that so many of our students could take the chance to not only learn more English this summer but also have the opportunity to engage with and learn the culture of so many other countries. I hope these experiences will prove valuable to the students in the future.
