Last week was a busy one for the students here at Eiwa, with two grades going on school trips, two grades on school excursions, and another enjoying a class retreat in Gotemba.
In a ‘normal year,’ the second-year junior high school girls would have also gone away for an English camp, but we have had to be flexible since 2020 due to Covid-19 and do things in a creative fashion. With this in mind, the English Camp was held last Thursday and Friday here at the school. It was a great success, with lots of fun being had by students and staff alike.
As in previous years, the camp was run by professional staff from Hamamatsu. Students were divided into three large groups and mini-groups of 4-5 people. Their goal was to practice, memorize and present a multimedia play in English. In the play, the students suddenly found themselves in Canada. Various adventures took place before they were able to return to Japan.
In addition to preparing for this play, the students also had a chance to relax and design their own original mugs. Various prizes were given out for both the mugs and the play performances. Students were awarded not only for their performances, but also for the effort and cooperation they had put into the group work. I think this experience really gave the students a chance to shine and show off their talents in so many different ways. Congratulations, everyone!
