Eiwa Day – July 2021
On Saturday 17th July 2021, we opened the doors of our school to students in the fifth and sixth grades of elementary school for the first Eiwa Day event of the year.

Eiwa Day is an event that allows elementary school students to experience what a day at our school is like. So, it is fitting that we started the event, as we do every day, in the Chapel.
First, the students watched a performance by the handbell club who performed some hymns and music from the movie Ponyo. Then, the drama club gave a performance of a play they have been practicing recently.
Following these performances, the students move to the classrooms where they took part in a lesson given by one of the Eiwa teachers. This year, we had classes in art, social studies and music as well as English Conversation classes for both grades. In my class, students learned the names of different animals and practiced using the word ‘can.’ For my class, I placed some animal pictures around the room and the students had to ask each other what animals they could see. The students did a great job to remember the names of so many animals and everyone gave very good presentations at the end of class.
Following the classes, the Eiwa students showed the girls around the building to see what the different clubs at our school do. The students watched performances from the dance and rhythmic gymnastics clubs and looked at displays from the photograph club. Everyone seemed to have a great time.
As the event drew to a close, the students made their way back to the chapel for the closing comments and the chance to watch some Eiwa videos including our new television commercial!

It was great to see so many students coming to our school and I hope that everyone enjoyed their time at Eiwa. Hopefully, we will get to see you all again in the near future.
